Both Senior Officers Instants Prior to the Assailant Was Tasered

One senior officer who rushed to the aid of a colleague who was ambushed by a knifeman received the Royal Recognition for Courage.

Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown following he pressed a weapon to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the law enforcement personnel and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a driver subsequent to a road collision in Whalley Range in July 2023.

Brown knifed and cut the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster before PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a electric weapon.

"Policeman attacked," the constable stated over his radio.

Officer-mounted and dashboard camera recording shared by the police department showed Brown, that was clothed in black with a head covered, approach to Sgt Foster from behind with a knife pointed forward.

He ran into the officer who stumbled and dropped to the pavement, after which Sgt Ansell stepped in and struggled to restrain him to the ground even though being continually attacked with the weapon.

Police Constable Wolstencroft drew his Taser and waited for a clear shot, concluding the fight to an end.
